Churches Equipping Saints for Service

 A Look at My Serving

Due to covid, most of us are seeing less church volunteering. But 'serving' also includes what we do in everday life, and this time of covid is ideal for focusing on everyday serving.

What does it mean to serve God well in everyday life? If God has prepared in advance the good works each of us are to do (Eph. 2:10), how do we figure out what they are, and help our church family do the same?

I'm inviting you to join me in wrestling with these questions. I've started with three tools, accessible at the bottom of this page. They are:
  1. A Look at My Serving - a simple assessment to get us thinking.
  2. How to Grow in Serving - Three simple, practical steps for growing in serving in everday life
  3. Why Look at Serving? - A more detailed look at the reasoning behind, and the benefits of, looking at our serving.

Want to join me or at least discuss this endeavor to build up serving in everyday life? Try "A Look at My Serving" for yourself. I'd welcome your feedback on it.

I also invite you to join me in a zoom meeting on this topic at 1:00pm Central on Thursday, November 19. Email me for the link.

Imagine how much more God could use us in this hurting world if we were all serving more intentionally, joyfully, impactfully and faith-fully in everyday life!

 The Covid Pivot

Covid has brought change . . .Few of us have ever experienced anything so globally disruptive.

While we’re adjusting where we must, we’re also in a good place to see other adjustments — pivot points — that could put us in a better place for the long term. I’m looking at pivot points that have to do with serving, both for churches and for each of us individuals. Read more.

 Good Stuff

  • Do we think about loving our neighbor when we're posting on social media? The Technological Discipleship Gap by Ed Stetzer
  • Seth Godin isn't talking about discipleship in his post titled "I Hate This Restaurant" but doing the "incredibly hard work of transgressing genres, challenging expectations and seeking out the few people who want to experience something that matters" is a pretty good description of it.
